COLLEGE BOARD TESTING INFO

SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test)

The SAT is a widely used college admission exam. The SAT tests the reading, writing and math skills that are critical for success in college and beyond. The SAT also provides students with the opportunity to apply for scholarships and helps with placement in/out of certain college courses.

It is recommended that students planning to attend to college take the SAT during the spring of their junior year and again during the fall of their senior year. Most colleges require students to take the SAT no later than the December test date.

**UC and CSU colleges announced that they will no longer require SAT scores for college admissions. However, since SAT scores may continue to be used by private colleges, out-of-state colleges, some scholarships, the military, and for college placement purposes, we will continue to offer opportunities for students to take the PSAT and SAT exams this year.**

Khan Academy offers official SAT test practice.

PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test)

The PSAT is practice exam taken to prepare students for the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test). This includes a Reading Test, Writing and Language Test, and a Math Test.
